How does it work?


Smartlygreen.com is an online shopping portal for consumers who wish to take their first steps in helping to combat climate change – without spending any more money or wishing to change their lifestyle. By continuing to shop with your favourite high street stores, but doing so via smartlygreen.com, you earn loyalty points which are converted into cash and donated, on your behalf, to the environmental charity Cool Earth. So whether you are buying clothing, food, gadgets or whatever, you are helping the environment!

When you click on one of the merchant icons, e.g. John Lewis Partnership, you are taken to that online store, where you can shop as normal. You pay the same price to the merchant as you would have if you had gone there directly All parts of the financial transaction are handled between you and the merchant. The difference is that the merchant rewards smartlygreen.com for pointing you to their store by paying us a commission. We then share that commission on a 50%/50% basis with the charity Cool Earth.

Why should you do it?


It is widely accepted that climate change is real, and it is taking a devastating toll on our planet. Without making substantial change to the way we all live and the way we produce things, we will irreversibly affect our environment for future generations.
We are bombarded with this message. Every media outlet warns us of the consequences of inaction, but with our busy lifestyles – work and family – we don’t always have the time to assimilate the information and to start making changes. As you shop a donation is then made, on your behalf, to the charity Cool Earth and this is used in the major work it is doing in the fight against Climate Change.
